Sports Bicycle Road
Which kind of bicycle should I buy?
I live in Brooklyn, New York. I want to purchase a quality bike for a fair price. I own two bikes that are out of commission. Both of them are cheap Toys R Us bikes that didn't last long. I want to buy a bike that will last a relativily long time. I like to ride by the sea because the road is straight and I can pick up some speed. Being that I live in the city, I also need a bike that will survive the bumps, cracks, and jump factors that come into play when navagating through the city.
I want something like a sports bike mixed with some features of a mountain bike. I want a good bike for a fair price. I am willing to spend up to $250 if the bike is worth it. Please put any manufactures and companies that sell reliable bikes. If you have any specific bike models that you would recommend, please include in your answer. You have already gone through 2 cheap bikes. The amount you want to pay won't really buy you a great bike. It might last a bit longer than the ones you had before, but not much. You have to start thinking long term and spend enough to buy a quality bike. A good hybrid would probably be the right choice and last many years, but you will have to be prepared to spend twice as much as your current budget
