how to choose a bmx helmet?
now im very familiar with skiing and snowboarding helmets, and i know how a helmet should fit. what i want to know is, why buy a 150 dollar helmet vs a 80 dollar? what do i get out of it? i know the foam that will protect me is the same, but what features make a helmet better?

You have got it! The $50 helmets pass the same tests as the $200 helmets. What you get for additional money is lighter helmets, more air vents, better air flow, exotic materials, and better suspension systems.
The thing you need to do is go in and try on several companies helmets and models. Each company seems to make a helmet designed for a different shaped head. So there are some helmets I really can't wear... it hurts to put them on. You do not need the most expensive model, you can find many that are safe, have appeal, and won't break the bank!
